Tabloid reveals extent of Loft’s injuries
The Sun newspaper has published a backpage photograph of the injuries to Vale captain Doug Loft following his “training-ground incident” with Dan Jones.
The altercation between Loft and colleague Dan Jones happened on Thursday in front of fellow players and onlooking supporters. Jones and Loft both missed the game against Notts County with manager Micky Adams declaring that Loft was the “innocent party.” On Monday, Vale announced that Jones had left the club with immediate effect.
Doug has been left shocked by what has happened to him. Considering the legal position has not been his priority, he is focusing on getting the best medical treatment for the injuries so that he can get back playing as quickly as possible…
The Sun claims that Loft “was potentially disfigured for life after a brutal clash left him with a broken jaw, cheekbone and nose.”
According to the tabloid: “Loft’s lawyers were so horrified they released the shocking photos to the Sun”
His solicitor Paul Dodds commented: “Doug has been left shocked by what has happened to him. Considering the legal position has not been his priority, he is focusing on getting the best medical treatment for the injuries so that he can get back playing as quickly as possible.
“However given the type of injury it cannot be ruled out that legal proceedings will now follow.”
