Adams may hand youngster a start
Manager Micky Adams has admitted that the club’s injury crisis could see youngster Nathan Smith make a start against Sheffield United.
We had a 16-year-old on the bench and felt it was a little too early for him. He is there for experience really, but you never know on Friday we might have to throw him in…
Vale’s defence was stretched even further when centre-half Richard Duffy was forced off against Rotherham and although Adams did not bring Smith on during that game, the manager says Smith could feature in the club’s next game.
Vale are missing injured duo Liam Chilvers and Joe Davis from their defence while Jack Grimmer and Dan Jones have also both left the club. Adams commented: “It is hard at the minute in terms of the numbers we have got.
