Duffy in contention for Wolves game
Defender Richard Duffy could enhance his chances of playing against Wolves at the weekend providing he gets through a Vale reserve game unscathed.
Vale’s recent central defensive partnership of Joe Davis and Jack Grimmer looks certain to be changes after Grimmer was rated very doubtful with a ligament injury.
Vale have out-of-favour Chris Robertson in their squad but manager Micky Adams may decide to call upon Duffy instead. Duffy earned praise for his leadership and positional play when playing in central defence but he has only just recovered from an injury sustained in the FA Cup tie against Plymouth.
Duffy has been pencilled in to play for Vale reserves against Wrexham on Wednesday and assistant manager Mark Grew commented: “He will play in the Reserves at home to Wrexham on Wednesday and hopefully come through and if he does well he will put himself forward.”
