Smurthwaite: I have no intention of going

Chairman Norman Smurthwaite has moved to dispel rumours that he is seeking to quit his ownership of the club.

I have no intention of going but I may not last the course. Don’t think I am joking, because if something happens to me this club is screwed…

Speaking at Thursday’s Supporters Club meeting Smurthwaite commented:  “I have no intention of going but I may not last the course. Don’t think I am joking, because if something happens to me this club is screwed.

“The club would last three weeks without me, because it would not be able to meet its payroll.”
