The Port Vale players and staff went to Dickinson at the final whistle and Grew commented: “You can’t say too much about the lad. He was by his mother’s side and she passed away on Saturday.
“To do what he has done tonight shows what a great lad he really is. It is a privilege to have him on our team.
“Anyone who has lost a parent will know how he feels. It’s has been a very hard time for Carl.
“I would imagine he has mixed emotions right now, but it was a great effort by him.”
The OVF website would also like to pay tribute to Carl’s professionalism and offer our own condolences for his family’s loss.
