Adams: We’ll give the cup ‘a real go’

Micky Adams has told the Sentinel that he understands the importance of the Capital One as Vale take on local rivals Walsall on Tuesday evening.

Vale owner Norman Smurthwaite has made it clear that Football League fair play rules mean that the only way vale will stengthen their squad s through increased revenue and the cup offers the club the opportunity to do just that.

Adams told the Sentinel: “We’re at home and we want to do well in the cup competitions this year.

“I’m sure the chairman will want me to put out a strong side and give the cups a real go because it’s all about revenue at this club and it always has been.

“The tie will be difficult for us because Walsall are a good side and they showed that least season. But we’ll be ready for them.”
