Vale hit by injuries to full-backs
Vale are facing a mini injury crisis ahead of Tuesday night’s friendly against Championship side Leicester City.
Vale’s defence is low on numbers with four full-backs and two centre-halves missed.
Manager Micky Adams told the official Port Vale website that: “We are without Rob Taylor, Joe Davis, Liam Chilvers, Doug Loft, Adam Yates, Richard Duffy and Daniel Jones, so every full back combination we’ve got we have got a problem with it.
“The only one that has got a strain is Daniel Jones on his right thigh, which is unusual because he is left footed.
“The rest are all impact injuries, caused by the pitches being as dry as they are. Doug Loft has an Achiles injury, Liam Chilvers has got a problem with his back, they are just jarring problems really through the hard surfaces.
“The other have all been involved in tackles – Joe Davis, Adam Yates and Richard Duffy, so it is nothing we could have prevented. ”
With so many defensive injuries, Vale are likely to give both trialists Paul Reid and Mathias Doumbe a run-out during the game.
Vale’s injury list:
- Liam Chilvers
- Rob Taylor
- Doug Loft
- Adam Yates
- Richard Duffy
- Dan Jones
- Joe Davis
