Trialists impress Adams as injuries hit Vale

There was mixed defensive news for the Valiants as the impressive debuts of trialists Paul Reid and Mathias Doumbe coincided with more injuries to Vale’s defence.

I think both would be assets to the squad…

Reid and Doumbe played in the friendly draw with Kidderminster and Adams told the Sentinel he was impressed with their contribution:  “Both Matt and Paul were excellent and both acquitted themselves brilliantly.

“They have a lot of experience between them and I thought they showed that.

“We’ll have another look at them next week and though they’ll have other options, I think both would be assets to the squad.”

However, Vale suffered injuries to both full-backs during the game as both Richard Duffy and Dan Jones were replaced. Vale were already missing injured centre-halves Liam Chilvers and Joe Davis.
