Adams set to make signing
Port Vale manager Micky Adams is set to add a new face to his injury-hit squad on Wednesday.
The Vale boss is keen to strengthen his defence which has been hit by injuries to Joe Davis, Adam Yates, Richard Duffy and Dan Jones.
Trialist Mathias Doumbe, who has impressed during the last two friendly games, is favourite to be the man signed up. The experienced former MK Dons man has been praised by Adams in recent matches.
After the 1-0 home defeat to Leicester, Adams said: “Matt did ok again and has shown he would be an asset not only to ourselves, but to any other team that might be watching him at the moment.”
Former Leeds defender Ben Parker also played in the game and there is a possibility that he could earn himself a contract with the club. Parker, whose career at Elland Road was disrupted by injury is able to play in central defence and as a full-back.
Vale have already added five new faces to their squad in a busy summer with Anthony Griffith, Chris Robertson, Gavin Tomlin, Kaid Mohammed and Chris Lines all joining the club.
