Former Port Vale midfielder Sam Morsy will complete his move to Chesterfield on Monday after the two clubs agreed an undisclosed compensation fee.
The 21 year-old midfielder turned down a new contract offer from the Valiants earlier this summer.
As he is under 24 and was offered an improved deal, he was subject to a compensation fee under the Bosman ruling.
Morsy made a total of 49 starts plus 29 sub appearances for the Valiants, scoring four times.
