Mixed news on contracts
Port Vale FC have announced that Sam Morsy has turned down an offer of a contract, Doug Loft is in negotiations and Liam Chilvers has agreed terms.
According to the official Port Vale website, Morsy was “was offered terms for a new improved two-year contract at the end of last season, but has opted against signing this. ”
He will now be expected to move on, although Vale will receive compensation from any club signing Morsy as the player is under 24 years of age.
Morsy has tended to divide opinion amongst Vale fans although last season was arguably his best at the club – Morsy played a major role in the club’s strong start to the season.
With Doug Loft still in negotations, Vale are currently short of numbers in central midfield and may need to bring in replacements if Loft joins Morsy in turning down the clubs’s offer.
Meanwhile, the agreement with the experienced Chilvers is good news. The veteran was in good form at the end of the season and his experience will be vital following the departures of Darren Purse, John McCombe and Clayton McDonald.
