The Sentinel reports that captain Doug Loft’s contract is set to be resolved next week when manager Micky Adams returns to the club.
There comes a point when we need a decision because we have to think of Port Vale…
Loft has yet to make a decision on an offer of a two-year contract – making it the last contract decision to be resolved.
Assistant manager Mark Grew told the newspaper: “Lofty is influential and I think it’s important that we get him signed up again – it would be a massive boost to everybody.
“But it’s not the be-all and end-all. The gaffer has given him plenty of time and Lofty has been away on holiday to think about it.
“But there comes a point when we need a decision because we have to think of Port Vale.
“If he decides his future lies elsewhere, then we’ll have to find a replacement.”
