Burge tweets about non-involvement at Bristol Rovers
Port Vale midfielder Ryan Burge has tweeted about his non-involvement in the Valiants’ squad to play Bristol Rovers on Tuesday night.
Burge, who is currently joint-top of the OVF player of the season leaderboard, was widely expected to return to the side after Vale’s poor recent form.
The midfielder, who was added to the Vale squad on Friday following his recovery from illness, was apparently not told about his non-participation until “five minutes” before he was due to arrive in Bristol.
Fans will no doubt ponder the club’s man-management if a player was indeed allowed to travel to within five minutes of the stadium before being informed he wasn’t needed.
Meanwhile, the use of the hashtag #cheers at the end of the tweet could also be interpreted by some fans as sarcastic annoyance over his non-involvement.
Finally, the player’s tweet will reignite the debate over whether players should use social media platforms when employed by the club.
