Burge backs down… via Twitter
Ryan Burge has announced that he won’t be sending any more critical tweets after the midfielder was heavily criticised for his use of social media this week. However, despite this partial apology the midfielder has been suspended for 14 days by the club.
Burge was heavily criticised by manager Micky Adams for being late for a team meal and the midfielder got into even more hot water with a string of tweets apparently contradicting the club’s view of events.
Burge’s tweets contravened the club’s social media guidelines so Burge was dropped from the side to face Bristol Rovers and manager Micky Adams confirmed that the player would face disciplinary action.
In two tweets send on Friday afternoon, Burge said:
However, this partial apology has come too late for Port Vale who subsequently issued a statement confirming that Burge had been suspended. According to the club the midfielder has been asked to apologise on Thursday but had refused to do so.
