Grew: Time to turn the screw
Assistant manager Mark Grew has told the Sentinel that Tuesday night’s home game against AFC Wimbledon gives the Valiants the chance to “put more pressure” on their promotion rivals.
If we can win, it not only boosts our own confidence, but it also turns the screw on our rivals…
Title contenders Gillingham lost at home on Monday night and a win for Vale would take the Valiants four points clear at the top of the table.
But another three points would also lift Vale twleve points clear of the play-off places. Grew told the newspaper: “If we can win, it not only boosts our own confidence, but it also turns the screw on our rivals.
“They have to keep winning or the gap will get bigger.
“The onus is already on them to catch us, but another three points would put more pressure on them.
“A lot of them have to play each other as well, so I’d rather be in our position.”
