Posh linked with Burge (no, we don’t believe it either)
In a seemingly never-ending series of unfounded transfer rumours involving Peterborough United and Port Vale, the latest involves Posh making a bid for Vale central midfielder Ryan Burge.
In recent months, Peterborough have twice been linked with Tom Pope only for both clubs to deny the reports.
Now, in another rumour devoid of any telling quotes or facts, Clubcall and Teamtalk are linking the Posh with a move for Burge with the central midfielder apparently an “ideal replacement” for departing winger George Boyd.
However, OVF finds it extremely doubtful that with Vale pushing for promotion and with money not an issue that the Valiants would allow one of their first-choice midfielders to leave.
We expect a flat denial by Chairman Paul Wildes imminently…
Burge’s breakthrough
After serious injury restricted Burge to just 180 minutes of play last season, this campaign has seen the talented 24 year-old cement himself as a first-team regular. Burge has made 28 appearances, scoring three times this season.
