Prolific Pope handed contract extension
Port Vale’s leading scorer Tom Pope’s goalscoring exploits have triggered a clause in his contract, tying him to the Valiants until the end of the 2013/14 season.
His contract now runs until the end of next season and that is good news for this football club…
The Vale players’ contracts have been honoured by new owner Paul Wildes and Pope’s included a clause of a 12 month extension should he pass 15 goals for the season.
Wildes told the Sentinel: “There are players whose contracts will run out in the summer, but that is not the case with Tom.
“The one-year deal he signed had an automatic extension if he scored 15 goals and, as everyone knows, he has already triggered that clause.
“His contract now runs until the end of next season and that is good news for this football club.”
