Port Vale 4-1 Wycombe Wanderers
Port Vale 4-1 Wycombe: Striker Tom Pope made it fiveteen goals for the season as Vale came from behind to beat ten man Wycombe at Vale Park.
Micky Adams opted to start with Darren Murphy replacing the suspended Sam Morsy and Chris Shuker replacing the injured Burge. It was Murphy’s full debut for the club.
The key moment of the first-half saw Wycombe awarded a controversial penalty thanks to a poor decision by the referee.
Vale’s best chances fell to Ashley Vincent who had three chances to open the scoring for Vale.
And on the stroke of half-time, Wycombe’s Jo Kuffour saw red for a second yellow card after a late challenge on Chris Neal.
But the main focus of Vale fans was referee Boyeson whose poor officiating saw him booed off the pitch at the interval.
Vale brought on Ben Williamson for the tiring Murphy in the second-half and the sub levelled the scores on the hour mark with his second goal of the season.
The prolific Pope put Vale in front with his fourteenth goal of the season five minutes later – a downwards header past keeper Bull.
And Pope doubled his tally in the match with a superb header from sub Kingsley James’ cross.
Ashley Vincent added the icing on the cake as Bull was unable to keep out his long-range effort – it was Vincent’s fifth goal of the season.
