Loft set to be out for ‘a few weeks’
Port Vale skipper Doug Loft could be missing for “a few weeks” after suffering a calf injury during the 2-0 win over Exeter City.
Loft was replaced after 52 minutes and manager Micky Adams told the Sentinel: “Doug has pulled his calf, so we’re obviously disappointed with that. He’s an integral part of our squad and he can play in numerous positions as the fans know, but we’ll miss him for a few weeks now.”
Loft has been a key figure this season, filling in as a left-back and central midfield. The skipper’s injury leaves Vale short of cover in the left-back position with Rob Taylor still easing his way back to full fitness.
However, Vale are better stocked in central midfield where Ryan Burge, Chris Shuker, Darren Murphy and the so far unused Kingsley James will be looking to replace the Vale captain.
