Duo battle to replace suspended McDonald
Micky Adams has to decide whether experienced Gareth Owen or rookie Joe Davis will be drafted into his team to replace the suspended Clayton McDonald.
There’s a chance now for the players that have been patient on the bench
McDonald has been an ever-present since replacing Davis in the Vale defence but is suspended for the trip to Northampton after picking up his fifth booking of the season.
Davis has looked to be in poll position to replace McDonald after making a couple of appearances from the bench, but Adams may also feel that Owen’s experience may be crucial to battle Northampton’s physical presence upfront.
“We’ve an injury and suspension in defence and there’s a chance now for the players that have been patient on the bench,” Adams told the Sentinel.
“He might get an opportunity in the team now. We’ll have a look at it. not the biggest of centre-halves, but in terms of enthusiasm and commitment, Joe has not let anybody down, so we’ve got two good options.”
