Lessons can be learnt from Gills defeat
Prominent Port Vale columnist Martin Tideswell says that there’s no need to panic after the home defeat to Gillingham as “it’s best to get beat by the team at the top rather than the bottom of the division”. However, he does wonder whether the Vale should be “playing people in their best positions” and therefore restore Doug Loft to central midfield.
Tideswell’s blog includes this comment: “I’m a firm believer in playing people in their best positions.
“Take Louis Dodds, for example, who is reaping the rewards of a run in the team in his favoured spot.
“If it was me, I’d stick Lofty back in midfield and play Rob Taylor at left back.”
