Vale lose first summer friendly
Micky Adams’ side failed to make it ten friendly victories in a row as they lost 0-1 to League One side Coventry City in a closed doors friendly.
Adams once again named two separate sides for each period as he looked to give all his first-team squad a chance.
Vale suffered an early blow when trialist Tadhg Purcell had to be replaced by Ashley Vincent. Vincent and Williamson both had chances but so did visitors Coventry who were impressive going forward.
The visitors took the lead on 42 minutes and held on to record an away win and end Vale’s winning run.
Vale first-half: Chris Neal, Adam Yates, John McCombe, Dave Artell, Doug Loft, Louis Dodds, Darren Murphy, Sam Morsy, Jennison Myrie-Williams, Ben Williamson, Tadhg Purcell
Vale second-half: Chris Neal, Gareth Owen, Joe Davis, Clayton McDonald, Doug Loft, Ryan Burge, Kingsley James, Ryan Lloyd, Chris Shuker, Tom Pope, Ashley Vincent
