Vale old boys – non-league round-up
There was mixed news for former Valiants in non-league action this week as OVF takes a look at how our old boys fared…
Please note this round-up is focused solely on Vale players in the non-league…
Mansfield Town
George Pilkington again missed out on a starting place after being dropped from the starting eleven following Town’s 4-1 defeat to Gateshead. But former Valiants Jake Speight, Louis Briscoe, Ritchie Sutton and Gary Roberts all played in the game against Grimsby. It was an unhappy match for Roberts who was dismissed on 81 minutes, while Town’s leaky defence conceded four goals for the third time this season as they ended up losing 4-1 to the Mariners.
Nuneaton
Kyle Perry was an unused sub as Town defeated Alfreton 3-0.
Gateshead
Micky Cummins came on as a sub as Ian Bogie’s side drew 1-1 with Lincoln City.
AFC Telford
Kris Taylor was an unused substitute in a 2-2 draw with Jim Gannon’s Stockport County.
Atrincham
James Lawrie was on the mark, but Lee Sinnott’s side lost 4-2 to Chester City. Former Valiants Simon Richman and Jake Moult were unused subs.
FC Halifax Town
Former Valiants Paul Marshall, Jason Jarrett and Matt Glennon all played as Neil Aspin’s side drew 1-1 with Bradford Park Avennue.
Whitehawk
Tommy Fraser’s side lost 1-3 to Lowestoft Town in the Ryman League Premier Division.
Worcester City
Striker Danny Glover scored a brace as City defeated Corby Town 5-1.
Ilkeston Town
Former keeper Chris Martin was beaten by a Sean Cooke strike as Ilkeston Town lost 1-0 to Nantwich Town.
Stafford Rangers
Former left-back Ryan Brown played 90 minutes as Rangers drew 2-2 with Hednesford Town.
This is just a small number of Vale players involved in non-league action, please post a comment if you want to add to this list.
