Nantwich Chairman welcomes Vale fans
Nantwich Town chairman Jon Gold has sent a message to OVF thanking Vale fans for their support last season. Gold adds that he is looking forward to meeting many Vale supporters during this week’s friendly game.
Nantwich were embroiled in a row with Vale’s former board last season (more details are here in our Reference Library section) after the Valiants failed to fulfil a friendly fixture and also left Nantwich with an unpaid bill for use of their 3G pitches.
The incident was covered in some depth by OVF and despite some Vale supporters criticising OVF’s stance on the issue, Port Vale FC eventually admitted that they had been wrong and subsequently reached agreement with Town.
Now Gold has emailed OVF to thank Vale fans for their support. Gold writes: “On behalf of all at Nantwich Town Football Club we would sincerely like to thank all supporters of Port Vale for the tremendous support that you showed to our club twelve months ago and the part that you played in ensuring that the historic links and goodwill between our two clubs was not broken and remains strong.
We look forward to welcoming as many of you as possible to the Weaver Stadium in Nantwich on Friday evening for the long awaited game and a celebration of friendship, support and entertaining Football and I hope to be able to thank as many of you as possible in person then”.
Vale’s friendly match takes place at the Weaver Stadium on Friday evening.
