Adams: It just wasn’t our night
Manager Micky Adams bemoaned his side’s bad luck after the 2-0 defeat to Accrington on Tuesday night. Adams commented: “How we have not scored, I don’t honestly know.”
Speaking after the game, Adams said: “The result was not a reflection of the game by any means.
“How we have not scored, I don’t honestly know. It was either wasteful finishing, very good goalkeeping or lots of luck, but it’s absolutely amazing how we have not come away with anything.
“I don’t think we could have done any more than we did, other than stick the ball in the net of course.
“It’s difficult to find fault when we have put so much effort into the game and done so well.
“Our defending was a bit sloppy for their first goal, but I’ve no complaints about the penalty that was awarded.
“And they just hit us on the counter when we were pressing forward for their second, so I’m not too concerned about that.
“We had so many opportunities, but things have not quite fallen for us and their goalkeeper has produced some great saves.
“It just wasn’t our night in the end, I suppose. We outplayed Accrington for large spells of the game, but they rode their luck and it’s their night.
“Our fans were standing out in torrential rain at the end and they were clapping us off, and that said an awful lot.”
