Four agree new contracts at Vale Park
The Sentinel newspaper reports that four players have signed contracts with the club over the weekend.
The Valiants have fifteen players out of contract at the end of the season and have already lost Anthony Griffith to Leyton Orient.
The four players to sign are – Rob Taylor (two-year deal), Ben Williamson (one-year deal), young goalkeeper Sam Johnson (one-year deal) and Lewis Haldane (six months contract).
“I was delighted to be offered two more years and I was happy to agree,” Taylor told the Sentinel. “With a new chairman coming in, the club seems to be moving in the right direction. The gaffer is confident he can push the club forward and quite a few of us have bought into that.”
The news means that Vale now have nine players contracted for next season as Gareth Owen, Doug Loft, Sam Morsy, Adam Yates and Ryan Burge’s contracts do not expire for another twelve months.
However, attention will now turn to striker and captain Marc Richards who is much in demand by other clubs. Vale will be desperate to keep their top scorer and many feel that next season’s fate could depend on whether Richards stays or goes.
