Supporters Club launch hardship fund
A meeting of the Port Vale Supporters Club on Sunday saw the group launch a hardship fund to help Port Vale’s fight for survival.
Chairman Pete Williams said: “The fund is to help the club with any running costs they may need, such as travel expenses, or for employees who need immediate financial assistance.
“If an administrator comes in they will need as much revenue as possible and we want to help relieve some of that pressure.
“We haven’t set a target for how much money we want to raise, but I’m sure the fund will be a success. At yesterday’s meeting alone we raised £1,000 with a bucket collection.
“In a strange way administration can unite the fans as we can all work together to take the club forward.”
Fund raising ideas will include bucket collections at future home games, one of which will be held at tomorrow’s clash with Burton, a celebrity match and a fund-raising day in the town.
