Port Vale 1-2 Barnet
Marc Richards’ 71st Port Vale career goal was in vain as strugglers Barnet secured a shock last-gasp win at Vale Park.
Micky Adams named an unchanged starting eleven, but welcomed Clayton McDonald back to the subs bench.
Despite the anticipation surrounding the game, the first half was a rather flat affair with Vale looking somewhat jaded.
Then out of the blue, a brilliant goal by Marc Richards lifted the atmosphere as Vale took the lead early in the second-half. Richards turned and struck a splendid shot from twenty five yards.
But just eight minues later, the visitors scored a surprise equaliser as Ben May scored as Tomlinson failed to gather the ball cleanly.
And Collins had to clear off the line as the visitors pressed for a winner. Micky Adams used all three subs in an effort to make a difference but instead it was the visitors who snatched the winning goal.
With seconds remaining, Tomlinson did well to parry a free-kick out and Barnet sub Yiadom pounced to give the visitors all three points.
Barnet’s win ended Vale’s eight match unbeaten run which had stretched back to January 14th.
