Owen to miss rest of season?
Back to matters on the pitch and the defensive problems continue to pile up for manager Micky Adams after Gareth Owen was probably ruled out for the remainder of the season.
The experienced Owen injured his left knee and hip while playing for the reserves against rivals Stoke on Wednesday.
Owen’s injury and those of Adam Yates and Lee Collins mean that the only experienced centre-halves are Clayton McDonald and John McCombe.
However, McDonald will go to trial in April after he pleaded not guilty to a rape charge and this will presumably mean the defender will be unavailable for selection during that time.
With a transfer embargo in place, Owen’s injury leaves just rookies Phil Roe, Charlie Raglan, Joe Davis and utility man Kingsley James as defensive cover.
