Vintage 1920’s Port Vale pictures revealed

Thanks to Port Vale fan Leigh Briscoe, OVF has been handed these amazing images of Port Vale players during the late 1920s including striker Billy Briscoe. These images were discovered by Leigh’s grandmother and mainly feature Billy Briscoe, who is related to Leigh.

The untitled team images are believed to be from the late 1920’s.

A note on Billy Briscoe:

Billy was a former Stoke and Leeds forward who played for the club over three spells – in 1918, 1919-1923 and 1925. He was top scorer in the 1924-1925 season.

  1. 4 th photo down; back row, second from right. Can anyone confirm that this is Tom Cooper? I am related to him and this looks very like him and seems to be about the time he was at Port Vale. He went on to play for Derby and Liverpool and England ( as captain for a short while).
