Port Vale 3-2 Bradford City
Port Vale 3-2 Bradford: Tom Pope was Bradford City’s nemesis for a second season after he scored a last-ditch winner in a thrilling midweek game.
Micky Adams made one change to his starting line-up with Ben Williamson starting in place of the suspended Marc Richards. Doug Loft recovered from injury to make the subs bench.
Vale had an early chance to take the lead but the impressive Ben Williamson missed the opportunity. But Vale didn’t rue that missed chance as Rob Taylor secured an early lead with a scorching strike after just four minutes.
Then Pope nearly made it 2-0 following a good cross from Williamson.
Bradford levelled the scores on 24 minutes from Devitt but another long-range Taylor effort saw Vale retake the lead on 38 minutes.
Vale’s lead only lasted four minutes into the second-half as Jones levelled the scores for the visitors.
Both sides had chances to win it but just as it looked to be ending in a draw, up popped Pope to score his second of the season and secure all three points for the Vale.
