Plymouth 0-2 Port Vale
Plymouth 0-2 Port Vale: Captain Marc Richards was controversially sent-off as Vale bounced back from defeats to Wimbledon and Southend with a 2-0 win over struggling Plymouth.
Port Vale manager Micky Adams made four changes to the side that faced AFC Wimbledon with Stuart Tomlinson, Clayton McDonald, Louis Dodds and Ben Williamson making way for Chris Martin, Mike Green, captain Marc Richards and loan signing Andrew Little. It meant Northern Ireland International Little was making his full debut for the Valiants.
And Port Vale enjoyed a good first-half after taking the lead through playmaker Gary Roberts’ fourth goal of the season. The midfielder found the net on 30 minutes.
But the Valiants were rocked by the sending-off of captain Marc Richards on 50 minutes, who was shown a straight red for violent conduct.
However, the home side were also reduced to ten men on 80 minutes when Ladjie Soukouna conceded a penalty and was sent-off. Midfielder Gary Roberts converted the resulting spot-kick for his second goal of the game and fifth of the season.
