Florent Cuvelier player profile:
The former Belgian U21 International midfielder Florent Cuvelier was snapped up on loan by Port Vale from Sheffield United in January 2014. A talented playmaker, Cuvelier was a former Stoke City player who had also had loan spells with Peterborough United and Walsall.
After the signing, Vale manager Micky Adams commented: “If there is one worry it is that maybe he might need four or five games to get himself up to full speed. Really we can’t afford four or five games, we need him to hit the floor running if he possibly can.”
Unfortunately the opposite occurred as Cuvelier suffered a serious injury during his debut against Oldham Athletic at Vale Park. As a result the loan deal was cut short after he had made just the one appearance for the club
After recovering from his injury, the midfielder moved on to have spells with Walsall and Morecambe before he was forced to retire from playing at the age of just 26.
