Dagenham 1-2 Port Vale
Loanees Guy Madjo and Jennison Myrie-Williams ended a 502 minute goal drought as Micky Adams’ side defeated strugglers Dagenham to record their first win since the 25th October.
Adams named the same starting eleven that drew with Torquay, but added some firepower to his bench with the return of Marc Richards and Ben Williamson to the squad. Former Vale loanee Exodus Geohaghan started in defence for the home side.
The Daggers had the better of the opening exchanges and took a deserved lead when Woodall took advantage of poor Vale defending. But Vale equalised just moments later when Jennison Myrie-Williams scored his first Port Vale goal from outside the box. It was Vale’s first goal for five games and 502 minutes.
And fellow loanee Guy Madjo doubled Vale’s goal tally on 65 minuts after good work from Rob Taylor. Madjo’s strike meant he joined fellow loanee Myrie-Williams in scoring his first goal for the Valiants.
Vale had further chances to add to their tally through Tom Pope and substitute Richards, but were unable to do so.
So, while Vale’s problems off the pitch may be far from over, on the pitch, the team can at least enjoy a respite from recent criticism.
