Downing in, Brightwell out?
The Valiants have confirmed that they have approached Keith Downing for the vacant assistant manager’s role – a move that could mark the end of Ian Brightwell’s stay at the club.
Downing left Cheltenham in September 2008 and Bill Bratt told the Sentinel: “The situation is that Dean approached Keith yesterday and we are waiting to see what his answer is.
“Nothing has been finalised and there have been no formal contract talks, but we hope to hear from Keith later today.”
If Downing joins, then Brightwell’s spell at the club is expected to come to an end. It will be a blow to Brightwell, who had previously revealed to The Sentinel his desire to land the assistant’s role.
