Hector Sam set for lengthy spell on sidelines
Hector Sam reportedly suffered a broken leg during Vale’s Carling Cup defeat to Rotherham United on Tuesday evening
Sam was chopped down by Millers defender Shaun Barker, who was shown a yellow card for the offence.
The news is a blow for manager Martin Foyle – who is also missing Robin Hulbert, Mark Innes, Michael Walsh to injury – with the possibility of George Abbey, Mickey Bell and Sam Collins (all injured in the cup game) being added to that list.
But it is a terrible blow for popular striker Sam, who looked had lively when he came off the bench.
Sam joined the Valiants from Wrexham in the summer and had made just two other appearances from the bench.
But with Vale’s wafer-thin squad he was expected to play a prominent role this season. He is now expected to suffer a lengthy spell on the sidelines
