Defensive duo could miss out
Martin Foyle faces problems in defence at the weekend after losing Mark McGregor and Craig James to suspension.
The Valiants travel to Brentford on Saturday. The loss of the duo plus the injured Steve Rowland leaves Vale with just Clayton Fortune, George Pilkington, George Abbey and Jason Talbot as the team’s only fit and recognised defenders.
Talbot has had just one minute of first-team action for the Vale and the Bees game may be too soon for him.
One option could be to switch midfielder Mark Innes to left-back, a position he has played in from time-to-time or even field a back three.
James and McGregor have both racked up five bookings, while Rowland has been delaying a hernia operation until George Abbey returned to action.
The versatile youngster is set to be missing from action for around a month.
