Port Vale in talks with Mark McGregor
The official Port Vale website reports that the club are in advanced talks with Blackpool club captain Mark McGregor.
The defender is expected to complete a deal within the next 24 hours.
If McGregor signs, it will be the club’s fourth permanent signing of the transfer window following those of former loanees Leon Constantine and Michael Husbands and winger Sean Doherty.
Player Factfile:
Mark McGregor joined Blackpool on a free transfer from Burnley last summer.
He made a good impression during his first season and was appointed club captain, making 43 appearances at either right-back or centre-back.
However, the experienced stopper has fallen out of favour this season following the appointment of Simon Grayson as manager and the arrival of Marc Joseph on loan.
He is described in the PFA Footballers’ Who’s Who as a “no nonsense defender, solid in the tackle and usually in the right place to clear any danger.”
