Preston interested in Dave Hibbert
Press reports are making Preston the first club to be linked with out-of-contract striker Dave Hibbert with a move to Preston – would the source of those rumours be in any way connected with Hibbert’s agent, who just happens to manage Preston striker David Nugent then?
Preston chairman Derek Shaw confirmed to the Lancashire Evening Post that the club were looking at ‘a youngster from the lower leagues who is not well known, but is a Dave Nugent type – one for the future.’
Hibbert’s agent looks after Jon Stead, who moved to Sunderland last month and David Nugent, who moved from Bury to Preston with great success last season. He appears keen to make it a hat-trick of transfers.
Reports in the Lancashire Evening Post have Preston chairman Derek Shaw claiming that the club were looking at “a youngster from the lower leagues who is not well known, but is a Dave Nugent type – one for the future.”
If this fairly blatent agent tip-off to the press is true, Vale will ask for a fee for the youngster, who is not eligible for a Bosman free transfer.
