Birchall earns praise after first cap

Carribean commentators were full of praise for Chris Birchall after he won his first full cap for Trinidad and Tobago. The Vale youngster played the full ninety minutes in a 2-0 World Cup qualifying victory over Panama.
Birchall was named in the first eleven for the must-win match at the Hasely Crawford Stadium which was played in front of a noisy 15,000 crowd.

Stern John and defender Dennis Lawrence were the goal heroes for Trinidad who remain in third place in their group, six points behind leaders Mexico and five points behind second-placed USA.

Birchall earned praise from television commentators for his all-action display in the centre of midfield.
