‘Derisory’ McPhee Offer Rejected
The Valiants have confirmed that an offer has been made by Leeds United for 27 goal top scorer Steve McPhee but that it was rejected by the club board.
Vale’s board confirmed that it turned down a ‘derisory’ offer from Leeds United for their top-scorer and player of the season.
A written offer was received from the Elland Road side, but Vale Chairman Bill Bratt confirmed that it was rejected out of hand.
Bratt told the local press:
“We want to keep Steve McPhee because we believe his future is with us.
“The amount Leeds offered was, in my opinion, not even worth considering.”
It is understood that the offer for McPhee amounted to less than £100,000 in installments.
