Connor Ripley saves in front of the Hamil but can’t stop Vale losing 2-0 at home to Oxford. Pic by Tom Green Hopes of a Port Vale revival were dashed once again as they were comfortably beaten 2-0 at home to play-off chasing Oxford. A battling goalless draw at Leyton Orient in midweek at least gave Vale something to build on but this defeat leaves them without a win in 14 and still second from bottom of League One. They fell behind on 16 minutes when Ciaron Brown scored from a corner and then were left with too much to do when Josh Murphy doubled the lead on 49 minutes by curling the ball in off the post from a short corner. The result leaves Vale six points adrift of safety, albeit with a game in hand ahead of Saturday’s game at fellow strugglers Burton. If you would like to sign up to The Valiant, there’s a £20 offer (50% off) for your first year. That offer runs until the end of March. We produce at least 150 editions a year.
