The road to the Chelsea v Port Vale quarter-final
Fascinatingly, Port Vale have achieved their run to the quarter-final through a succession of home games. In the first round, they disposed of non-league Maldon & Tiptree by five goals to one. The next game saw them narrowly defeated League Two side Bristol Rovers in the second round.
The third round saw League Two side Fleetwood defeated at Vale Park. Rovers’ rivals Bristol City visited for the fourth round and Vale upset the odds defeating their Championship opponents in a postponed game. The next match was against Premier League Sunderland side in the fifth round. Striker Ben Waine scored his third goal of the competition to down the Black Cats and set up a quarter-final tie at Stamford Bridge.
Can the Vale upset the odds again and reach the semi-finals?
