Trevor Wood in goal
Trevor Wood started his career at Brighton & Hove Albion and joined Port Vale after a successful trial in 1988. Initially used as back-up to first choice Mark Grew he made just five appearances in his first two seasons with the Valiants. The 1990-91 season (from which this image is taken) represented Wood’s breakthrough as he started the season as first-choice. This image is from a home game towards the end of 1990. Sadly for Wood he suffered an injury in February and lost his place once more. After 49 appearances for Vale he left the club in 1993 joining Walsall where he picked up an International cap for Northern Ireland. He finished his career in 2001 playing for St Patricks Athletic in Ireland.
