Port Vale have parted company with transfer-listed defender Joe Davis, manager John Askey has confirmed.
Davis signed a two-year deal with Michael Brown in 2017 but has agreed a settlement on the remainder of his contract.
The defender was transfer-listed by Brown’s replacement Neil Aspin in the summer of 2018 and failed to make a Vale appearance this season.
Askey told the Sentinel: “He hadn’t been featuring and I think in everyone’s interests, mainly Joe’s, it was better to do the deal.
“Everybody who goes on the pitch wants to do well and wants to have a good career. It might be that Joe leaves here and starts to play football again and does really well. We all wish him the best.”
