About the game

The Valiants had reached the fifth round of the FA Cup during the 1959-60 season. This game was played on the 20th February and produced Vale Park’s record attendance which was recorded as 49,768. It produced 8,500 worth of gate receipts. In a dramatic start, Brian Jackson’s penalty gave Vale a 36th-minute lead, but the away side came back to win the match with six minutes to spare.
