Defender Ben Purkiss told the official Port Vale website that the second goal knocked “the stuffing out of us” as Vale looked to get back into the game.
Vale lost 4-0 at home with the second goal – an own-goal by Anthony Grant – coming on the stroke of half-time.
Purkiss commented: “I think once we went behind you’ve got to look to steady the ship really and we conceded a goal jut before half time which takes the stuffing out of us.
“Then we think we’ll go again second half and we’ve seen clips, Duffy has done that a few times this season, where he’s cut inside.
“So it’s tough to take at those times and tough to come back from and the fourth goal is a poor goal.”
