I was Port Vale mascot back in 1958 and remember running out with the team on an evening game either on or close to my 7th birthday October 13th which was a Monday. Roy Sproson was the Captain. If it wasn’t a league game is it possible it could have been a Sentinel Shield game against Stoke.I continued as mascot until I was 13 and have some lovely memories particularly trainer Lol Hamlet looking after me when we went to Craven Cottage Fulham in the FA Cup.I’m now 70 and have in lived in Devon since 1968.I will be coming up for the Newport game which is now on Monday 2nd May, maybe we could catch up before or after the game.
