Port Vale’s win over Bristol City in the FA Cup fourth round has led to a string of news releases from the club.
Fixture changes
Three League fixtures will have to be changed as a result of Vale’s cup run and also Stockport’s exploits in the Trophy. The games are as follows:
- Peterborough United vs Port Vale TBC
- Port Vale vs Bradford City – Vale Park, Wednesday 11th March 2026, 19:45
- Stockport County vs Port Vale TBC
VAR to be in place on Sunday
The controversial VAR system will be in use at Vale Park for the first time for the cup clash against Sunderland. VAR is used from the fifth round of the FA Cup.
If VAR is called upon during Sunday’s game, the referee will explain the decision directly from the pitch via the PA system, with the decision being relayed via the scoreboard.

Port Vale have announced ticket prices and availability for Sunday’s game.

Match officials announced
Experienced official Anthony Taylor has been selected to take charge of Sunday’s Emirates FA Cup fifth round match against Sunderland.
He will be joined by assistants, Gary Beswick and Adam Nunn. Ben Toner joins them as the fourth official.
As VAR will be used for this game. Michael Salisbury will be on hand as Video Assistant Referee (VAR) with Peter Wright supporting as Additional Video Assistant Referee (AVAR).
