Defender Kyle John felt honoured to be named as Port Vale skipper by Jon Brady and he says he wants to be “an example on the pitch” while captain.
Yes, of course I’m proud. It was a surprise but I am enjoying it. Really enjoying it. It gives you an extra incentive to be an example on the pitch…
Speaking to the club’s inhouse PVTV media team, John said the atmosphere among the squad was better after a draw and win in recent games. He said: “Everyone’s a lot more positive. Two good results and we just need to keep the momentum going.”
The 25 year-old also said it was a real honour to be named as the club’s captain adding: “Yes, of course I’m proud. It was a surprise but I am enjoying it. Really enjoying it. It gives you an extra incentive to be an example on the pitch.”
John is pleased to be appreciated by the fans saying “Yes, it’s always nice when you get the fans onside. It gives you that extra 10%. I’m really thankful for that. We can’t thank them enough (the fans) for their support.
“Hopefully they (the fans) can feel the momentum now and we can get a big win on Saturday. They (next opponents Luton Town) are not going to like coming here, obviously the pitch is a bit worse for wear. Hopefully, get that win and we are in a completely different place.
